SUMMARY:Sport in Ontario Collective 2nd Online Meeting-Sept 25
DESCRIPTION:Community Sport Council Ontario (CSCO) wants all sport in Ontario to register for the ‘Sport in Ontario Collective’. Not all registrants were able to attend the June 18 online kickoff event so below is a link to the meeting recording that includes a backgrounder on the process for the Collective and several informative presentations. The backgrounder slide deck is also attached. Links to some of the reports referenced in the presentations are at the bottom of this email. \nClick here for recording on the full meeting \nWe recognize how busy everyone is and that’s why we’ve adopted a ‘hop on\, hop off’ approach to this important conversation. Please join us when you can. This will not be a short journey — we’re in it for the long game. The next meeting of the ‘Sport in Ontario Collective’ is on Thursday\, September 25\, from 4:30 – 6:30 pm and you will receive a virtual link to that meeting by mid-September. \nThe main focus for our next meeting will be an open conversation on what we want to achieve together. At our September 25th meeting\, we will start a conversation on what is the Common Agenda(s) for the Collective. For example\, should we develop one Common Agenda with one Theory of Change or should we develop more than one Common Agenda with more than one Theory of Change on topics/issues such as safe sport and/or leadership development and/or club development and/or athlete’s rights and/or equity in sport and/or inclusive sport  and/or volunteer recruitment and retention and/or reducing the cost of participating in sport and/or facility access etc… As well\, is it best that we connect\, communicate\, support and integrate with other organizations that are currently addressing or want to address a topic/issue in sport that is important to all of us? There’s a lot for us to think about and discuss. \nYou are always welcome to share your thoughts with us by replying to this email. We look forward to an open and transparent conversation where every perspective on sport is valued and matters.  We’re keeping a record of all conversations we’re involved in between meetings and will provide a summary of those at the beginning of each meeting. \nYou are also welcome to invite other people into our conversation — just ask them to send an email to collectivecsco@gmail.com and we’ll send them a link to the September 25 virtual meeting. \nWe feel that we got off to a great start on June 18. We’re hoping that\, with a spirit for collaboration and ongoing communication\, we can take small steps that result in big change. \nWe wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable summer. \nWe hope to see you in the Fall. \nCSCO ‘Sport in Ontario Collective’ Steering Committee \nDonna Harrington\, Jeff Carmichael and Bill Harding

SUMMARY:2nd Sport in Ontario Collective Online Mtg\, Sept 25
DESCRIPTION:The next meeting of the ‘Sport in Ontario Collective’ is on Thursday\, September 25\, from 4:30 – 6:30 pm and you will receive a virtual link to that meeting by mid-September.\n\nSince the number of people participating in our conversation is growing\, we’ll be sending out the mid-September virtual link from this email address as a bcc in a batch email.\n\nThe research presentations on June 18 gave us a lot to think about.\n\nThe main focus for our September 25 meeting will be an open conversation on what we want to achieve together.  At that meeting\, we will start a conversation on what is the Common Agenda(s) for the Collective. For example\, should we co-create one Common Agenda with one Theory of Change or should we identify more than one Common Agenda based on what the research findings presented on June 18 highlighted — a need to address challenges in sport such as: Barriers to Participation; Leadership Development; Access to Space; Safe Sport; Changing Public Policy; Ensuring Quality Sport Experiences. As well\, we will discuss whether or not a preferred approach for the Collective is to support\, connect\, communicate\, and integrate our efforts with other organizations we recognize as addressing (or wanting to address) a challenge in sport that is important to all of us? There’s a lot for us to think about and discuss.\n\nPlease give some thought as to how the Collective can help you achieve the desired outcomes of you or your organization? How can working together strengthen your mandate? You are always welcome to share your thoughts with us by replying to this email. We look forward to an open\, inclusive and transparent conversation where every perspective on sport is valued and matters.  We’re keeping a record of all conversations we’re involved in between meetings and will provide a summary of those conversations at the beginning of each meeting.\n\nYou are also welcome to invite other people into our conversation — just ask them to send an email to collectivecsco@gmail.com and we’ll send them a virtual link to the September 25 meeting.\n\nWe feel that we got off to a great start on June 18. We’re hoping that\, with a spirit for collaboration and ongoing communication\, we can take the important ‘small steps’ needed to make the sport system in Ontario better.\n\nWe wish you and your family a safe and enjoyable summer.\n\nWe hope to see you in the Fall.\n\n\nCSCO ‘Sport in Ontario Collective’ Steering Committee\nDonna Harrington\nJeff Carmichael\nBill Harding\n\n\n2025 Community Sports Sustainability Report\, Community Sport Councils Ontario \nhttps://communitysportcouncils.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/CSCO-Report-Final-Version-6-June-16-25.pdf\n\nChange-the-Game 2024 Report\, MLSE Foundation  \nhttps://ssl.mlse.digital/foundation/MLSE-Foundation-Change-the-Game-Research-Report-2024.pdf\n\n2024 State of Play Youth Report\, Canadian Tire Jumpstart Charities\nhttps://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0122/8124/9892/files/State-of-Play-2024-EN.pdf?v=1713368242\n\nProvincial Sport Policy in Ontario:Trends\, Issues\, and Ways Forward\, Brock University \nhttps://www.krichsportandrec.com/_files/ugd/4b33b8_f48a3ea0110a49749c6c63bb6fd832dc.pdf\n\nNew-to-Canada Long-Term Development in Sport and Physical Activity Pathway\, Sport for Life \nhttps://sportforlife.ca/wp-content/uploads/2025/06/NLTD_2025_EN.pdf
